The right Avalanche wallet depends on what you do on Avalanche. Native AVAX staking needs a wallet that signs on the P-Chain, which rules out EVM-only wallets. Working in a desktop browser needs an extension. Staking, lending, and perps on your phone narrows the list again.
We compared four wallets people use on Avalanche: Core, MetaMask, Rabby, and Wyro (ours, so weigh that). Competitor facts link to each wallet's own documentation or a named source. Checked November 4, 2026. Wallets change quickly, so re-check anything you plan to rely on.
Key takeaways
- Native staking needs P-Chain support. Core and Wyro have it. We found no P-Chain staking in MetaMask's or Rabby's docs.
- Core is Ava Labs' wallet: web, extension, iOS, and Android, with gasless eligible C-Chain transactions, a seedless option, a bridge, and in-app buying.
- MetaMask and Rabby suit people who use many EVM chains and want a browser extension.
- Wyro puts P-Chain staking, Aave and Benqi, recurring swaps, and Hyperliquid perps in one mobile app, and a web app is in private beta. There's no browser extension, and access is invite-only for now.

We don't compare fees in this table. Check the fees on each wallet's confirmation screen. In Wyro, network gas and pool fees are included in the quote you see before you confirm.
Core
Core is built by Ava Labs, the team behind Avalanche, and it's the reference point for Avalanche features. Core and Wyro overlap more than they differ: both delegate AVAX on the P-Chain, lend and borrow on Aave and Benqi, schedule recurring swaps, and work with a Ledger on mobile.
Where Core leads
- Every platform, open to everyone: web app, browser extension, iOS, and Android. Wyro has no extension, and its web app is in private beta.
- Gasless transactions on eligible C-Chain transactions, launched in March 2025 (The Block). In Wyro you pay network gas in AVAX.
- Seedless sign-in protected by multi-factor authentication (The Defiant). Wyro uses a recovery phrase.
- X-Chain transfers, Core Bridge, and buying crypto in the app (Core help, core.app). Wyro's Transfer screen doesn't cover the X-Chain, and Wyro has no card or bank purchases.
- Prediction markets on Core Web (Core fees page). Wyro doesn't offer them.
Where Wyro differs
Not documented in Core's mobile help center as of November 4, 2026:
- Hyperliquid perps in the phone app. Core documents perps for Core Web.
- Registering a validator from your phone. Core's mobile help center documents delegation.
- One Transfer screen for AVAX between the C-Chain and P-Chain and USDC between Avalanche and Hyperliquid.
- A balance-change preview from a Tenderly simulation before C-Chain transactions.
- Home-screen widgets, including a countdown to when your stake unlocks.
The full side-by-side is on Wyro vs Core.
MetaMask and Rabby
Both are EVM wallets with browser extensions and mobile apps, and both work well if you use the Avalanche C-Chain alongside many other EVM networks.
MetaMask shows estimated balance changes before you sign, with Avalanche among the supported networks. It added Hyperliquid perps on mobile in October 2025 and offers stablecoin lending through Aave. We found no P-Chain staking and no borrowing in its docs. See Wyro vs MetaMask.
Rabby is known for pre-sign simulation and risk alerts, and supports Ledger over Bluetooth on mobile. We found no P-Chain staking in its docs; perps and Aave in Rabby Mobile are reported by third parties but not in Rabby's help center. See Wyro vs Rabby.
For native AVAX staking with either, import the same recovery phrase into a wallet with P-Chain support. Your C-Chain address stays the same.
Wyro
Wyro is our wallet: a self-custodial mobile app for Avalanche. Keys stay on your device and you sign every transaction. Wyro is an interface; it doesn't lend, hold funds, execute orders, or set rates.
Good for
- Native staking from your phone: delegate from 25 AVAX for 14 days to 1 year, or validate with 2,000 AVAX. Accounts imported from a single private key have no P-Chain address, so they can't stake natively.
- Aave V3 and Benqi supply and borrow, swaps with recurring orders, and a Tenderly simulation before C-Chain transactions.
- Hyperliquid perps where available. Not available in the US, the UK, Ontario, or other restricted regions. Leverage magnifies losses, positions can be liquidated, and you can lose your entire margin.
Limits
- Mobile first, invite-only. Android is in an invite-only private launch, iPhone is coming soon, and the web app is in private beta. There's no browser extension. In the web app, signing staking transactions needs the Core extension.
- No gasless transactions, seedless option, bridge, prediction markets, or fiat on-ramp.
- Full functionality on Avalanche only. Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, and BNB Smart Chain are view and receive.
What about Phantom?
Phantom's help center lists Avalanche as an unsupported network, so it isn't an option for AVAX.
Switching wallets
You don't move funds to switch; you give the new wallet the same keys. Import your recovery phrase (or connect the same Ledger) and you get the same C-Chain address, with your old wallet still working. In Wyro you also get a P-Chain address for staking. Active delegations are recorded on the P-Chain under your address, not inside a wallet app, so importing doesn't end or move them. If you set up Core with Seedless, check Core's help center for what you can export first.
Our import guide has the steps, and the Ledger guide covers hardware accounts. Never type your recovery phrase into a website or send it to anyone, including support.
How to pick
- Native AVAX staking: Core or Wyro. Our staking guide walks through it.
- A desktop browser, gasless transactions, or no recovery phrase: Core. MetaMask and Rabby also run in the browser.
- Perps: MetaMask and Wyro offer Hyperliquid on mobile; Core documents it on web. Availability depends on where you live, so read Hyperliquid perps from an Avalanche wallet first.
- Borrowing on Avalanche: Core and Wyro both connect to Aave and Benqi. Learn how liquidation works before you borrow.
- Staking, lending, swaps, and perps on one phone: that's what Wyro is built for.
FAQ
What is the best wallet for Avalanche?
It depends on what you do. For native AVAX staking, pick a wallet with P-Chain support, such as Core or Wyro. For a browser extension across many EVM chains, MetaMask and Rabby work on the C-Chain. For staking, lending, and perps in one mobile app, look at Wyro.
Is Wyro an alternative to Core wallet?
For mobile use, yes. Both support native delegation, Aave and Benqi, recurring swaps, and Ledger. Wyro adds Hyperliquid perps in the mobile app and validator registration from the phone. Core leads on gasless transactions, seedless sign-in, a browser extension and a web app open to everyone, bridging, and X-Chain support.
Can I stake AVAX with MetaMask?
Not natively. MetaMask works on the C-Chain, and we found no P-Chain staking in its docs. Import your MetaMask recovery phrase into a wallet with P-Chain support, such as Core or Wyro, to delegate with the same funds.
Will my Core stake show up if I import my phrase into Wyro?
Your delegation lives on the P-Chain under your address, so importing doesn't end or move it. When the stake ends, the AVAX and rewards return to that P-Chain address, and you can transfer them to the C-Chain.
Does Phantom support Avalanche?
No. Phantom's help center lists Avalanche as an unsupported network as of November 4, 2026.
